Best Italian food in Salvador, Bahia may be steps from my apartment : Restaurante Dionisio
Head chef and owner Vincenzo Donnaromma makes an art of Italian fine dining in Barra, Salvador.
The secret to Vincenzo's dishes begins with a variety of handmade pasta. I'll let him share the details soon.
Vincenzo has wowed diners in his home country of Italy, Paris, New York and beyond. A Bahian woman won his heart so Salvador wins a treasure surely the envy of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro epicures.

The local beach early on a weekday. Weekends it's packed.
Alright homies. So you want to see the people shots. Go to any other Brazil web site. Find the prettiest girl. She is the one blocking my view of the even prettier girl walking along the shore. Today I met a special Bahian girl and talked while wading in the waves as the sun went down. I'll be putting up people shots as time goes by.
For anyone who has been to our parties in LA, you can probably imagine the soundtrack we set our days to. I'm lucky to have the master DJ, AJB, taking COB. So it's pretty fun around the pad.

Muqueca de Camaraō com Piraō e Arroz at Dona Mariquita
An artful baiana. Dona Mariquita. Try the delicious traditional Bahian dishes. Atmosphere and food served up with attention to detail. Dine indoors with A/C or in enclosed patio. Live music performances on Fridays. I haven't seen this one in the guide books. A MUST.
Here is the dish as it arrived. Not on the menu. Ask for Muqueca de Camaraō com Piraō e Arroz. Serves two.

Salvador: "I think I love you a little bit."
The quote is from a Basque girl in Bermeo, Spain years ago. It was so damn cute I'll never forget it. After finally shedding the haze and malaise from 26 hours door to door as human cargo and acclimatizing to my new neighborhood and this view from my balcony- Salvador, I think I love you a little bit.

Countdown : One week until arriving in Salvador, Bahia
I'm testing the portable office theory on a 60 day working vacation. Migrating from a loft in Downtown Los Angeles to an apartment in the Barra area of Salvador. I set up this site to chronicle the adventure and to make it easy for others visiting Salvador to record their experience as well. So, long after my first visit to Salvador, Bahia, I hope this site will aid others traveling to the "Capital da Alegria," (Capital of happiness).
