Salvador: "I think I love you a little bit."
The quote is from a Basque girl in Bermeo, Spain years ago. It was so damn cute I'll never forget it. After finally shedding the haze and malaise from 26 hours door to door as human cargo and acclimatizing to my new neighborhood and this view from my balcony- Salvador, I think I love you a little bit.
Since my brother and I are working from our apartment we brought our laptops and a bunch of other electronic gear. We arranged for a driver to take us from the airport to our apartment. After a couple rough days shaking jet lag we finally ventured out for a little recon in the Barra area. We're less than a 5 minute walk to the shore. It didn't take long to know Salvador was the right call as base camp to acquaint ouselves with the great country of Brazil. It was good enough for the Portuguese. Salvador was the first capital of Brazil.
Setting up our multiple phone lines was priority one. We have USA dial-tones in the apartment thanks to Vonage and a couple new XPS laptops from Dell. We're taking daily biz calls and the quality is superb.
Today we got everything dialed-in, so to speak, running smoothly and can start to explore all that is Salvador.
We've already booked trips to the Amazon and Rio but that comes later. Now it's time to de-Gringo-fy. Learn the language and get this white flesh under the hot ball in the sky.
